‘Boulder Blue’ is the best, most durable of the blue festuca grass selections. It has bright blue foliage and pleasing mounding habit. It blooms in late spring with a nice display of tawny brown flowers.
Description
15″ tall (in flower) x 12″ wide (division propagated). The intense blue coloration of Festuca glauca ‘Boulder Blue’ foliage is a delight. Although not a well-known variety, this selection, made by Ted Kuettel of Golden, CO over 30 years ago, has proven itself in the harsh and erratic climate of Colorado’s front range. A larger grower than ‘Sea Urchin’, ‘Boulder Blue’ is a showy, heavy bloomer with a nice upright habit. Grows easily in any moderately fertile garden soil.
Flat of 9 plants will cover 9 square feet when planted together
